F.A.Q ABOUT LIFE COACHING...

  1. How is life coaching different than counseling?
Life coaching focuses on the present and the future.  Life coaching (the way I practice) may briefly touch on past issues but only as they relate to what is going on in the present.  Life coaching is not therapy and does not deal with past trauma.  Life coaching is outcome based.  Many therapists use some of the same techniques that I use as a life coach, specifically cognitive-behavioral therapy and strength based counseling.  If you are unsure what you need, call me and we can figure it out together.

  2. Where does life coaching “happen“?
One of the really great aspects of life coaching is that we can meet in my office, meet outdoors, talk on the phone, or through the digital world.

  3. What makes up a life coaching practice?
I do individual, couple, and family life coaching.  I offer video conferencing, teleconferencing, topic related seminars, and developing retreats.

  4. What credentials are required to be a life coach?
There are many different life coaching programs and an incredible diversity of individuals who provide life coaching services.  Different programs offer certification and when I searched for a coaching program I looked for a program that was accredited through the International Coaches Federation.  (ICF)  Unlike many careers that require specific licensing, life coaching does not.  I do have a Masters Degree in Education, School Counseling.  I also have my School Administrator credential.  I received my Life Coach Training through Martha Beck Inc. Martha Beck is one of the premier life coaches in the world.  You can find more information regarding my training at www.marthabeck.com
